Periapical periodontitis or apical periodontitis (AP) is an acute or chronic inflammatory lesion around the apex of a tooth root, most commonly caused by bacterial invasion of the pulp of the tooth. It is a likely outcome of untreated dental caries (tooth decay), and in such cases it can be considered a sequela in the natural history of tooth decay, irreversible pulpitis and pulpal necrosis .

DENTAL X-RAYS X-rays are produced by “boiling off” electrons from a filament (the cathode)and accelerating the el to the target at the anode. The accelerated x-rays are decelerated by the target material, resulting in bremsstrahlung. 3. In the anterior, anterior periapical projections, exposed using the paralleling technique, are adequate! Anterior bitewing projections are also used for assessing periodontal disease Radiographic Technique! Posterior periapical projections tend to display somewhat foreshortened views of the maxillary molar teeth! The foreshortening of the image tends to Apical periodontitis is an inflammatory lesion in the periodontal tissues that is caused mostly by bacterial elements derived from the infected root canal system of teeth (Core concept 7.1).

Periodontitis is a common inflammatory disease in the periapical tissues. It should be recognized that in the classification of periodontal diseases there is still some confusion, this is due to the fact that in addition to the internal systematization of MMIS, adopted by dentists in the countries of the former CIS, except ICD-10, there are WHO classification recommendations. todos aquellos que presentan una lesión periapical PALABRAS CLAVE: periodontitis apical crónica, lesión periapical, tratamiento de conductos, reparación, cicatrización, control ABSTRACT Chronic apical periodontitis is a long-term inflammatory process located in the apical May 15, 2016 Spread of infection to the apical periodontal ligament region. It explains the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatme A periapical inflammatory lesion is defined as a local response of the bone around the apex of a tooth that occurs as a result of necrosis of the pulp or through destruction of the periapical tissues by extensive periodontal disease (Fig. 20-1).
